I also understand that in receiving this position he will be paid considerably more than he was as a council member and that this may substantially increase his Lounty pension. I have lived on our Island for over 25 years and have been fortunate to live in Kukuihaele for the past several years (the District that Mr. Domingo represented as Councilman for so many years). During these years, I have seen first-hand the professionalism and integrity that Mr. Domingo displayed in all of his work as our Councilman. He was re-elected so many times because people of all walks of life who lived within his district appreciated and respected the work he has done for us. The financial rewards for council members are minimal, given the enormous work and responsibility. It is my sincere opinion that people like Mr. Domingo, who have proven over the years their value to our community, should be given the opportunity to continue to serve in new capacities. And if such positions pay reasonably well and furthermore help to increase the pension for the government servant, I believe that this is a good thing. This is the right thing to do. To now question whether Mr. Domingo "deserves" the new position, or is "unfairly" benefitting, is to throw mud on a person who deserves our collective appreciation, respect and support. Simply put, it's not just OK, it's good and just, to reward those who have given selflessly so much, for so many years. I would personally ask the Council to favorably confirm Mr. Domingo's new position and to do so unanimously with appreciation and respect for what he has done for our Island Community. Yours sincerely, Eugene A. McCain, Jr. EAM/pak G~~~,,, _ Cc: Hawaii Tribune-Herald Tate Pt®._ Inf. To:, ~ ~fAY~l.\1 lOEC 1 1 1998 lief. Date Main Office: P.O.
