Re: Monetary Contribution to the Fire Department
Enclosed is a resolution accepting a monetary contribution of $6,792 from the Fireman's
Fund Insurance Company's grant program called "Fireman's Fund Heritage", which
issues funds to fire departments throughout the United States for various needs. The
Hawaii Fire Department was granted $6,792, from this program, to purchase
1) equipment that will connect additional fire stations to the existing video
teleconferencing system, 2) upgraded portable fire extinguisher training equipment, 3) a
public address system, and 4) building materials for training props.
Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating
the funds into the Fireman's Fund Grant account.
If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call the Hawai'i Fire Department.

B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED
Fireman's Fund Insurance has a grant program called "Fireman's Fund Heritage", which issues funds to
fire departments throughout the United States for various needs. The Hawai'i Fire Department (HFD) was
granted $6,792.00 from this program. Funds will be utilized to purchase computer connectivities to our
existing Video Teleconferencing Systems for the fire stations that do not have VTC equipment due to the
unavilability of an adequate infrastructure. These computer connectivities will allow us to meet training
delivery needs to our front line personnel who work at these stations. These funds will also be utilized to
purchase upgraded portable fire extinguishers for Fire Extinguisher Training, a Public Address (PA) system
for clear communication during public community education activities, and building materials for training
props for our firefighters, recruits, and volunteers.
