HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 301 Draft 01 1998-2000 COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION NO. 301 00 RESOLUTION CREATING A SCHOOL CROSSING GUARD HOURLY TEMPORARY POSITION FOR ERNEST B. DE SILVA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WHEREAS, a speed survey conducted by the Hawaii County Police Department has revealed that vehicles traversing Ainako Avenue average 33 miles an hour in a 25 miles an hour limit zone; and WHEREAS, measures such as posting a proper sign increasing driver awareness, educating the community and motorists of safety concerns, and educating the children in classrooms are being taken to ensure the safety of the elementary school age children; and WHEREAS, creating and placing a school crossing guard at the intersection of Manulele Street and Ainako Avenue would alleviate the possibility of a child dashing across Ainako Avenue resulting in injury or fatality; and WHEREAS, Article V, Section 5-1.3(c) of the Hawaii County Charter states that the Mayor has the power to "Create positions...fortyhich appropriations have been made by the council..". NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that a School Crossing Guard Hourly Temporary, SR-5 position be created in the Police Department, Administrative Division. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that there are sufficient funds in the County of Hawaii Police Department, Administrative Division, Regular Salaries and Wages account 010-201-5203.01-011. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the Police, Finance and Civil Service Departments. Dated at Hilo, Hawaii, this gUi day of August , 2000.
