Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 248-09, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 248-09, transmitted by Director of Finance Nancy Crawford, via Communication No. 548,
dated September 22, 2009, authorizes the acceptance of a monetary donation from Wal-Mart Hilo.
Wal-Mart Hilo has graciously donated $1,000 as part of its "Community Grant" program. These funds
will be used to purchase educational materials relating to fire and injury prevention, and will be
distributed to the public during Fire Prevention Week, Emergency Medical Services Week, and
throughout the year.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawai'i County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the County,
may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to Wal-Mart Hilo, 325 E. Maka'ala Street, Hilo, Hawai'i,
acknowledging this generous donation.
There was no discussion on this measure.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 248-09, and
recommends its adoption.
