RE: A Bill for an Ordinance to Amend the County of Hawai'i General Plan; Relating to the
Conversion from a Single Planning Commission to Windward and Leeward Planning
Commissions
The County Council adopted Resolution No.1 08-09, which requested, pursuant to the provisions of
the County ofHawai'i General Plan (General Plan), that the Planning Director, Windward Planning
Commission, Leeward Planning Commission review and make recommendations on Council-
initiated proposed amendments to the General Plan.
The proposed amendments to the General Plan pertain to the Hawai'i County Charter amendment
that created a Windward Planning Commission and a Leeward Planning Commission. The General
Plan needs to be updated to reflect this Charter amendment.
The Planning Director and both Planning Commissions have reviewed the proposed changes and
have provided favorable recommendations with no suggested changes to the language of the
proposed ordinance. (Please see Comm. No. 604.1)
The amendments to the General Plan are provided in the attached bill, previously labeled as
"Exhibit A" as attached to Resolution No.1 08-09, which I hereby submit for consideration by the
Council.
The communication that transmitted the resolution and exhibit ordinance is attached as well, for the
Council's reference.
Please place this bill on the agenda of the appropriate committee to meet on November 17,2009.
