SUBJECT: Discussion on Reduced Hours and Days at Transfer Stations
I am requesting an hour on November 17, 2009 at the Environmental Management Committee meeting. I
would like to invite Lono Tyson, Director of Environmental Management to speak to the Council regarding
the administration's decision to reduce hours and days at transfer stations throughout the Island of Hawaii.
I have received many calls from the community asking for information pertaining to this initiative. I think it
would be a good idea for the Council to hear the justification for this decision by the Environmental
Management Department so that we can communicate clearly to our constituents. It would also give the
community the opportunity to express their concerns as this would be a big change that could have serious
ramifications for the community at large.
