RESOLUTION NO. UO
RESOLUTION CREATING A PLUMBER POSITION FOR TNIE DEPARTMENT OF
PARKS & RECREATION
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks & Recreation hag approximately 175
facilities, the majority having some type of plumbing and sewer system to maintain;
and
WHEREAS, the Parks Maintenance Division is responsible for installing,
repairing, and upgrading all plumbing and sewer systems for all of the divisions in the
department; and
WHEREAS, many plumbing repairs or projects need more than one
knowledgeable and skilled employee to complete the required tasks; and
WHEREAS, by creating another plumber position, the Ipne plumber within the
department would not have to request for assistance from others with limited skills,
hindering the amount of work that could be completed in a timely manner; and
WHEREAS, Article V, Section 5-1.3(c) of the Hawaii Cpunty Charter states that
the Mayor has the power to "Create positions...fortyhich appropriations have been
made by the council...".
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII that a Plumber, BC-10 position be created.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that $20,584 be transferred from the Parks
Maintenance Division OCE account (010-500-5505.02) to the Parks Maintenance
Salaries and Wages account (010-500-5505.01).
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the
Finance, Parks & Recreation, and Civil Service Departments.
