Re: Operating Budget C-a
The State Department of Transportation Public Affairs - Safe Community Program is
providing an additional funding of $3,340 to the Hawai'i County Police Department's
Roadblock Program. The goal of this program is to reduce the number of alcohol related
fatalities and injuries, to increase public awareness, and to provide a constant deterrence
against impaired driving by conducting impaired driving roadblocks on our highways. In the
current fiscal year's budget, $92,000 was appropriated in anticipation of this grant.
Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating the
additional funds into the HCPD Roadblock Program account and bringing the total grant
appropriation to $95,340.
If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call the Hawai'i County Police
Department.
