These funds, derived from the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program, will be used to implement a Court House Booking Project which will provide post-conviction, same=day penal summons booking at the Hilo and Kona court houses. This project will streamline the post-conviction booking process and will ensure that the information is entered into the statewide offender based tracking system. Enclosed is a resolution to authorize the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State of Hawaii Department of the Attorney General. Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating this $99,000 grant.
