RESOLUTION NO. 335 00
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF FUNDS OF A LATER FISCAL YEAR AND OF MORE THAN ONE
FISCAL YEAR FOR TWO (2) TRUCK TRACTORS
WHEREAS, Section 10-11 of the County Charter requires that any contract, lease or other obligation requiring
payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal year or more than one fiscal year be approved by resolution; and
WHEREAS, it is essential for the County of Hawaii to have a minimum of eleven (11) dependable truck tractors
operating seven (7) days per week islandwide for solid waste operations; and
WHEREAS, the County has one (1) 1977, and one (1) 1990 truck tractors with over 300,000 and 200,000 miles,
respectively, which need to be taken out of regular service due to maintenance costs which exceed their valuation; and
WHEREAS, rental costs to replace the truck tractors while they are under repair could exceed $50,000; and
WHEREAS, the County wishes to enter into a five (5) year contract to lease with purchase options for two (2)
truck tractors for solid waste operations.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII hereby
authorizes the Mayor to negotiate a five (5) year lease agreement with purchase options for the acquisition of two (2) truck
tractors for solid waste operations islandwide.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk transmit copies of this resolution to the Mayor's Office and the
Departments of Finance and Public Works.
