No. 563/Bill No. 158 <br /> <br />DATE: <br />PLACE: <br /> <br />Council Chair and Members <br />Hawai'i County Council <br />Hilo, Hawai'i 96720 <br /> <br />Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 158, reports as follows: <br /> <br />Bill No. 158, transmitted by Finance Director Nancy Crawford via Communication No. 563, <br />dated October 1,2009, amends Ordinance No. 09-65, as amended, the Capital Budget, ending <br />June 30, 2010, by adding the following project: <br /> <br />PUBLIC WORKS: <br />Kaiimana Drive Flood Protection Project <br /> <br />110.299.5292.72 <br /> <br />$191,000 <br /> <br />Funds for these projects shall be provided from: <br />Federal Grants Receivable <br /> <br />$191,000 <br /> <br />Under the provisions of the Watershed Protection and Flood Prevention Act; the County of <br />Hawai'i, the United States Department of Agriculture Natural Resource Conservation Service <br />(NRCS), and the Waiakea and Mauna Kea Soil and Water Conservation District desire to <br />develop flood protection structures along Kaiimana Drive for the Wailuku-Alenaio Watershed. <br /> <br />NRCS proposed to provide $191,000 for the estimated cost of engineering surveys and design <br />services for the Kaiimana Drive Flood Protection Phase of the Wailuku-Alenaio Watershed. <br />This project includes the preparation of construction plans and specifications to provide flood <br />protection to homes along Kaiimana Drive between Chong Street and one-half mile above <br />Wilder Road. <br /> <br />Resolution 235-09, adopted on September 16,2009, authorized the County to enter into an <br />agreement to receive the federal assistance. <br /> <br />There was no discussion on this measure. <br /> <br />FC Rept.
