Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 250-09, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 250-09, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 159, by Finance Director Nancy
Crawford via Communication No. 564, dated October 1,2009, authorizes the Office of the
Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State of Hawai' i Department of Transportation for the
Job Access and Reverse Commute Grant funded by the Federal Transit Administration.
The grant is intended to provide increased transportation service for working commuters and for
those seeking employment. It will be used to fund operating costs to establish additional routes
and frequency of bus service, which include additional weekday and weekend service.
Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawai'i Revised Statutes, County Departments must obtain the consent
of the Council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting action to
be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend and receive any funds
or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those
powers.
There was no discussion on this measure.
Your Committee on Finance is in accordance with the purpose and intent of Resolution
No. 250-09 and recommends its adoption.' f,'
