Re: Resolution 271-09 (Communication 610 on the 11/17/09 Finance Committee Agenda)
Dear Chair Yoshimoto, Finance Committee Chair Onishi and Finance Committee Members:
Thank you for this opportunity to provide my comments relating to Resolution 271-09 which
transfers $14,525 from the Geothermal Relocation and Community Benefits Fund for lease payments
associated with the Pahoa Council Office.
As noted in Communication 610, Councilmember Naeole has agreed to relocate the Pahoa Council
Office to the former site of the Pahoa Elections Office which is being closed for budgetary reasons and
because of infrequent use. The long range plan is for placement of her office in the old Pahoa fire or
police stations when one of those facilities is renovated.
Our office would like to thank Councilmember Naeole and her staff for graciously agreeing to this
relocation which will save our office and County taxpayers approximately $2,000 per month. Last
month, Ms. Naeole and her staff walked through the Elections office with me and while they preferred
to remain at their present location, they agreed to sacrifice their preferences for the sake of saving our
County money in these difficult economic times.
Sincerely,
Kenneth G. Goodenow
