County of Hawaii-State of Hawaii
Resolution No.. 44-
WHEREAS, the agricultural industry is one of the major
contributors to the economy of the Island of Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, the Council of the County of Hawaii is
deeply concerned with keeping the Big Island agricultural
industry healthy and in step with the balance of the State
for the benefit of the people of the Island of Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, there is extensive interest in commercial
guava production on the Island of Hawaii and there is a
profound need for the dissemination of technical information
and knowledge to assist existing and prospective guava
producers in Hawaii County; and
WHEREAS, extensive scientific research work on guava
production is being conducted by the agricultural
experiment stations of the University of Hawaii; and'
WHEREAS, efforts to acquire copies of past University
of Hawaii publications dealing with commercial guava
production have frequently been met with replies from the
University of Hawaii that the supply of such publications
has been depleted,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII that the Extension Service, College of
Tropical Agriculture, University of Hawaii, be requested
to publish a new pamphlet on commercial guava production
for public distribution.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk be and
is hereby instructed to forward copies of this resolution
to the Honorable John A. Burns, Governor of the State of
Hawaii; to Dr. Harlan Cleveland, President, University of
Hawaii; to Dr. C. Peairs Wilson, Dean, College of Tropical
Agriculture, University of Hawaii; Mr. Dale Goodell,
Associate Director, Cooperative Extension Service, University
of Hawaii, Honolulu; and Mr. Warren'--Ikeda, Acting Extension
Chairman, Cooperative Extension Service, University of
Hawaii, Hilo.
