RESOLUTION NO~ 62
WHEREAS, 1973 marks the first year in which "Geo+"ge Awards"
are to be given by the Honolulu Star Bulletin ne,,,spaperj and
l~HEREAS, "George Awards II are given to persons in the
State of Hawaii who have given unselfish, inconspicuous and
valuable service to the community; and
WHEREAS, HIDETSURA MIURA has spent thousands of hours of
his spare time over the past 20 years to make life better for
more than 1,00Q aliens on the Big Island; and
WHEREAS, HIDETSURA MIURA's efforts have resulted in more
than 600 aliens-'-mostly Japanese and Filipinos--becoming
naturalized citizens and securing the futures of many others
by helping aliens to understand and take advantage of social
security benefits, .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVEO BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII that HIDETSURA MIURA be extended congratUlations
for being named as one of five recipients of the First Honolulu
Star Bulletin George Awards and a warm mahalo for all that he
has done to make the Big Island a better community in which
to live in.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk is hereby
authorized and directed to transmit a copy of. this resolution
to HIDETSURA MIURA of Honokaa.
