l'nIEREAS I AIR FORCE CAPTAIN ltlF;LVIN R. NA'fSUI was shot
down in Vietnam in July, 1972 while serving his country; and
WHEREAS, CAPTAIN MELVIN K. MATSUI was taken as a prisoner
of war shortly after being shot do't>ln and remained wi thin the
confines of North Vietnamese prisoner of war camps for
approximately eight months; and
\'mEHEAS, CAPTAIN MELVIN K. fir!A'l'SUI withstood the pressures
and conditions put upon him by the North Vietnamese with the
honor and courage of a true Big Islander and American fighting
man,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
COUNTY OF HA\iAII that it extend to CAPTAIN HEININ K. NATSUI a
warm welcome filled with the aloha he so richly deserves.
BE IT FURTHERRJ!.SOr.,vED that the County Clerk be and is
hereby authorized and directed to transmit true copies of this
resolution to Captain !-Ielvin 1\. Matsui and to his parents I
Mr. and Mrs. Tokue Matsui of Hila.
