Resolution
WHEREAS, the earthquake of April 26, 1973, caused
widespread and extensive damages throughout the County of
Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, many structures and buildings, both residential
and commercial, and various public facilities and roadways
sustained damages in excess of five million dollars; and
WHEREAS, a declaration of disaster has been proclaimed
by authorities of the County, State and Federal governments,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII that Shunichi Kimura, Mayor of the County
of Hawaii, is hereby authorized to execute for and in behalf
of the County of Hawaii, a public entity established under
the laws of the State of Hawaii, an application and to file
it in the appropriate State office for the purpose of obtaining
certain Federal financial assistance under the Disaster Relief
Act (Public Law 606, 91st Congress).
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a true and correct copy of
this resolution be forwarded to the appropriate State office
and to Shunichi Kimura, Mayor, County of Hawaii.
