WHEREAS, for the period begi~ing MaY,2l, 1973, and ending
May 29, 1973, a delegation of officials rromthe County of Hawaii
e-omposed of Coune-il Chairman Robert M. Yamada, Coune-ilmanDante K.
Carpenter; and Legislative Auditor R. B. Legaspi, together ,with
their wives; visited Hawaii County.s sister city of Hualien, Taiwan;
and
WHEREAS, memorable receptions, never...ending hospi tali ty, true
fellowship and precious gifts of friendship were extended to Hawaii
County's delegation in a fashion befitting royalty; and
WHEREAS, a more binding and personal ingredient has again been
added to enhance and sustain the goal of maintaining a meaningful
sister city relationship as a result of th,is visitation; .and
WHEREAS; the sue-cess of this Mission of Goodwill would not
have been possible without the assistance rrom ,many of the citizens
of Taiwan, and more significantly to the personal attention given
by the Magistrate of Hualien and Mrs. Fu~Shou Huang, his daughter
lianina" Chief of Information Tony N. D . Pan , and the Chairman of
the Hualien County Council Ching-Feng Wang; and
WHEREAS, as a gesture by the Hawaii County Council toae-knowl-
edge its appreciation and heartfelt gratitude for the tremendous
efforts exerted by our sister city of Hualien to make the visita-
tion an unforgettable one;

NOW t1 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII that this resolution serve as an official invitation to
the officials of the Hualien County Government to visit the County
of Hawaii whereby the Taiwan hospitality Which was genuinely and
generously given can be reciprocated with the comparable Hawaiian
spirit of Aloha.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
be and is hereby authorized and directed to transmit true cop,ies
of this resolution to Magistrate and Mrs. Fu-Shou Huang, their
daughter Hanina, Council Chairman Ching-Feng Wang, and Chief of
Information Tony N. D. Pan, residents of our beautiful sister city
of Hualien, Taiwan.
