WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii has enjoyed excellent
sister city relations with Oshima. Island; and
WHEREAS, this relationship has existed now for eleven
years; and
WHEREAS, strong ties of friendship have been establis;1.ed,
moreso with the visitation of Oshima Island officials in
October 1971, and more recently a visit made in May 1973 by a
Hawaii County Council delegation; and
WHEREAS, the Gshima Maru of the Tokyo Metropolitan
Oshima-Minami High School has chosen to pay a friendship call
on the County of Hawaii for the period June 29 to July 2, 1973;
and
vH-IEREAS, this visit of friendship provides for further <,,'
strengthening of our sister city ties,

COUNTY OF HAV!1UI that Cl\PTAIN TOivlOYUKI IGARf\SHI, the ere,,\'
members, and the student trainees of the Oshima Maru be
extended the warmest ALOHA from the people of Ha"mii County
during their port calL
BE IT FURnIER R~SOLVED that the County Clerk be and is
hereby directed to transmit true copies of this resolution to
HAYOR Hl\TSURI ISHII, Mayor of OshimQ Island, and C.-\PTt-.rN
TONOYUKI IGARl\SIU, Captain of the Oshima Haru.
