HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 110 Draft 01 1972-1976 l ~ 1 County of Hawaii--State of Hawaii Resolution WHEREAS, airline and hotel operators are strongly against the restoration of the "Maui Fence" which has been tried and found to be undesirable; and WHEREAS, the "Maui Fence" may bring back the many problems and stir up ill-will among visitors confronted with having to pay a higher fare for returning to Honolulu from Hilo; and WHEREAS, the "Maui Fence" works to the disadvantage of Hawaii residents traveling to the mainland; and WHEREAS, the "Maui Fence" will serve to discourage visitors from returning to Hilo from Honolulu; and WHEREAS, the common fare plan now in effect is serving to the satisfaction of airlines and travelers, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that it goes on record against any move to restore the "Maui Fence" and rescinds its previous support to the concept. IT IS FURTHERED RESOLVED that the County Clerk mail a copy of this resolution to Hawaii's congressional delegation, to the Honorable John A. Burns, Governor of the State of Hawaii, and to the Honorable Shunichi Kimura, Mayor of the County of Hawaii. Dated at Hilo, Hawaii, this ' ' day of 1973.
