WHEREAS, LYLE ='GUS" GUSLANDER from humble beginning
has, through his entrepreneurial ability, built one of the most
attractive hotel chain developed in the State of Hawaii, and
WHEREAS, GUS GUSLANDER has exemplified the preservation
of Hawaiian customs, tradition and architecture in hotels
through the internationally renowned Coco Palms Hotel; and
WHEREAS, GUS GUSLANDE has significantly advanced the
economy of the Big Island as a visitor promoter through the
development of the King Yamehameha Hotel in 1962 and the Keauhou
Beach Motel in 1970 when a need, existed; and
WHEREAS, GUS GUSLANDER has established for all potential
and established businessmen an admired and exemplary standard
of economic possibilities available in Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, GUS GUSLANDER will be honored at a testimonial
dinner on Thursday, August 30, 1973, at the Hawaiian Village
Hotel,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COLZICIL OF THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII that it extends to GUS CUSLANDE_R its warmest
"mia.halo" for the many worthwhile and enduring contribution he
has.-.made to the economy of the Big Island.
BE IT FURTHET? RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of
Hawaii be and is hereby directed to transmit a true copy of
this resolution to LYLE "GUS" GUSLANDER as evidence of the
County Council's deep appreciation and respect for his
contributions to the development of the Big Island., and that
it further extends to him its warmest best wishes for continued
success and happiness.
