RESOLUTION NO. J19,
WHEREAS, MRS. KMIEJU KUNITOMO, a graduate of Oberlin
College, was the first Islander and American of Japanese
ancestry to return to Hawaii to teach music; and
WHEREAS, MRS. KUNITOMO , through her love for music and
self-discipline, established an exemplary standard for all
Islanders to pursue, and.
WHEREAS, MRS. KUNITOMO has assisted numerous students
in attending mainland colleges; and
WHEREAS, QTRS. KUNITOMO is to be honored at a testimonial
titled "Kameju's Musicale" on September 15, 1973 at the Hilo
na.ijingu,
NOTAI, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII that it extends to MRS. KAM.EJU KUNITOMO its
sincerest appreciation for establishing such an exemplary
standard for other Islanders to follow and for her enduring
contributions she has made towards the betterment of our Big
Island way of life through her love of music, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of
Hawaii be and is hereby ordered to transmit a true copy of this
resolution to MRS. KUNITOMO as evidence of the County Council's
deep appreciation and respect for her unceasing devotion in
helping others through music.
