HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 143 Draft 01 1972-1976County of Hawaii ­ State of Hawaii Resolution WHEREAS, the residents of the County of Hawaii .are allegedly paying the highest residential and industrial rates in the nation per kilowatt hour of electricity; and WHEREAS, national, international and interstate limita- tions of fuels may directly affect our island if measures such as fuel rationing, highway speed limitations, blackouts, and possibly other such alternatives are not instituted; and WHEREAS, the energy crisis if not abated or controlled will adversely result in; higher fuel prices and higher ' electrical rates as these consumers are utilizing approximately 60 per cent of our fuel supplies; and WHEREAS, we on the County of Hawaii can by our united effort reduce our cost of fuel and electrical power by developing an "energy ethic" by practicing conservation at home, at our place of business and on our highways, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that all county governmental agencies immediately adopt practices conducive to the conserva- tion of energy and energy sources within limits of practicability. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor appoint an Energy Conservation Board created for the purpose of advising Hawaii County on practices which may be adopted to alleviate or minimize adverse impacts on its citizens.
