RESOLUTION NO. 5-45
WHEREAS, the Hilo High School Alumni Association is
presently commemorating its 64th year as a viable community-
serving organization; and
WHEREAS, with the Spirit of "Blue and Gold" this group
over the years worked diligently-and with great effort has
succeeded through fund raising endeavors during Homecoming Week,
Alumni-Vikings basketball games and other events, in= providing
opportunities in the sustaining of friendships and camaraderie
among the Hilo High School Alumni totalling 23,674; and
WHEREAS, through all these worthy doings, the Association
has been able to grant awards to the valedictorian and the
salutatorian of each graduating class for the past years; and
WHEREAS, the Association has initiated a scholarship
program for graduating seniors to attend the University of Hawaii
at Hilo.
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COU14TY
OF HAWAII that in recognition of this esteemed organization°s
participation in community affairs and in the promotion of good
will in the name of their Alta I-later, Hilo High School, that the
Hilo High School Alumni Association be hereby commended for their
laudatory and good samaritan achievements over these many years
and that the Hawaii County Council wishes them continued success
and extends their congratulations on this the occasion of their
60th anniversary.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
be and is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to
Jack Ouye, President, Hilo High School Alumni Association as testimony
of its appreciation in promoting the betterment of our Big Island
way of life.
