Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 263-09, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 263-09, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 167, by Finance Director Nancy
Crawford via Communication No. 591, dated October 20, 2009, authorizes the acceptance of a
monetary contribution from the Fireman's Fund Insurance Company for the Hawaii Fire
Department.
The funds will be used to purchase 1) equipment to connect additional fire stations to the existing
video teleconferencing system; 2) upgraded portable fire extinguisher training equipment; 3) a
public address system; and 4) building material for training props.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
There was no discussion on this measure.
Your Committee on Finance is in accordance with the purpose and intent of Resolution
No. 263-09 and recommends its adoption.
