RESOLUTION NO. 288 09
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION OF THREE (3)
AUTOMATED EXTERNAL DEFIBRillATORS TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS
AND RECREATION
WHEREAS, the Dr. Richard Mamiya Golf ClassIc is held each year to honor retired Honolulu Cardiologist
Dr. Mamiya and to benefit the American Heart Association; and
WHEREAS, for the past three events, a portion of the tournament's proceeds was designated to donate
Automated External Defibrillators (AED) to the Big Island community in Dr. Mamiya's name; and
WHEREAS, three (3) Automated External Defibrillators, valued at $6,095.72, are being donated to the
Department of Parks and Recreation and will be placed at the Afook-Chlnen Civic Center, the Edith Kanaka'ole
Tenms Stadium, and the Pana'ewa Rainforest Zoo; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai'i County Charter provides that the Council, on
behalf of the County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation recommends the acceptance of this donation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI'I that in
accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai'i County Charter, the Council of the County of Hawai'i
accepts this donation
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this resolution be sent to Dr.
Richard 1. Mamiya M.D., Queen's Physician Office BUilding, 1380 Lusitana Street, Suite 710, Honolulu, Hawai'i
96813, acknowledging this generous donation.
