RESOLUTION NO. 286 09
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION OF A FIRE
TRUCK FROM THE KOHALA RANCH COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION TO THE
COUNTY OF HAW AI'I FIRE DEPARTMENT.
WHEREAS, the Kohala Ranch Community Association ("Association") recognizes the
need for emergency fire suppression services for the Kohala Ranch community, and wishes to
assist the Hawai'i Fire Department ("Fire Department") in providing such services to this
geographical area; and
WHEREAS, the Association has purchased a new 2010 Freightliner M2106 Fire Truck,
Vehicle Identification Number IFVDCYBS4ADAN9365, which was built to specifications with
input from the Fire Department, with a total estimated value of$ 150,000.00; and
WHEREAS, the Association desires to donate this fire truck to the Fire Department, to be
assigned to the Kohala Ranch Volunteer Fire Station and to provide emergency services to the
Kohala Ranch and South Kohala geographic area; and
WHEREAS, the Fire Department recommends the acceptance of this donation; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, ofthe Hawai'i County Charter provides that the
Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAW AI'I that in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai'i County Charter,
the Council of the County of Hawai'i accepts the fire truck.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County ofHawai'i is directed to
transmit copies of this Resolution to (1) the Honorable William P. Kenoi, Mayor of the County
ofHawai'i; (2) Fire Chief Darryl Oliveira; (3) I)epartment of Finance, County of Hawai'i; and
(5) Marcia M. Wishnick, Ph.D., M.D., President, Kohala Ranch Community Association, c/o
Pacific Realty Management, 75-1029 Henry Street, Suite 202, Kailua-Kona, Hawai'i 96740,
along with a letter acknowledging this generous donation.
