RESOLUTION NO. 39
RESOLUTION ABOLISHING THE ECONOMIC RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
COMMISSION BY REPEALING.RESOLUTIONS APPLICABLE THERETO.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS in and for
the County of Hawaii that County of Hawaii Resolutions
Nos. 279 and 280, both dated September 6, 1961; 323, dated
October 181 1961; and 382, dated March 18, 1964, all relating
to the Economic Research and Development Commission be and
they are hereby repealed.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the positions of Administrator,
e= _ Economic Research and Development Commission, and
Clerk- Steno-grapher are hereby transferred to the County Chairman's Office
for administrative purpose.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the functions heretofore
conferred upon the Economic Research and Development Commission
be administered by the County Chairman's Office until final
disposition of this matter.

in reply to your inquiry., please be informed that prior to the
adoption of Resolution No. 399 Stipervisor Hisaoka requested that
it be clearly understood that the positions of the Administrator
and the Clerk-Stenographer are to be and are to remain under
Civil Service.

Transcript of that portion of the meeting of the Board of Supervisors,
County of Hawaii, held February 39 1965, with regard to Resolution
No. 39.
SUPERVISOR HISAOKA Mr. Chairman., I move for the adoption of
Resolution 39.
SUPERVISOR MATAYOMI: Second.
SUPERVISOR HISAOKA: Is it the intent that the administrator and
clerk-stenographer will be under civil service? Is that the
intent? Because the recommendation from the finance committee
says that they will be subject to chapters 3 and 4.
CHAIRMAN KIMURA: I checked with the county attorney. I understand
the phrase 'for administrative purpose's retains their civil ser-
vice status.
SUPERVISOR HIaAOKA< It is clearly to be understood that it is to
be under civil service.
CHAIRMAN KIMURA: Any further discussion? If not, madam Clerk.,
will you call the roll?
AYES: Supervisors Greenwellp Hisaoka, Jitchaku,
Matayoshi, Thompson, Yadao and Chairman - 7.
