COUNTY OF HAWAII - STATE OF HAWAII
RESOLUTION NO. 53
WHEREAS, the present priority list of matters to be
heard before.the Civil Aeronautics Board appears to omit
consideration of the long pending applications of Pan American
Airways and United Airlines to provide direct Mainland-Hilo
jet service; and
)
WHEREAS, completion of runway extension and improvement
projects to accommodate jet pla~s at Hilo Airport together
with increasing evidence of need for such services amply
justify early and prompt consideration of the matter,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
of the County of Hawaii that it does hereby request the
Legislature of the State of Hawaii in general session assembled
to adopt a concurrent resolution urging (1) the Civil
Aeronautics Board to move onto its priority list for hearing

at an early date, the application of Pan American Airways
and United Airlines to provide direct Main1and-Hilo jet
service, and (2) endorsing the aforesaid two airlines'
application to provide such service.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk be and she
is hereby directed to forward copies of this resolution to the
Honorable Kazuhisa Abe, President of the Senate and to the
Honorable Elmer F. Cravalho, Speaker of the House of
Representatives, State of Hawaii.
