No. 614/13ill No. 173 PLACE: Councilroom Ben Franklin Building, 2°d Floor Hilo, Hawaii TIME: 9:00 a.m. Council Chair and Members Hawaii County Council Hilo, Hawaii 96720 Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 173, reports as follows: Bill No. 173, transmitted jointly with Resolution No. 273-09 by Finance Director Nancy Crawford, via Communication No. 614, dated November 3, 2009, amends Ordinance No. 09-64, as amended, the Operating Budget, ending June 30, 2010. The amendment is as follows: FROM: 3308.51 Federal Grants -Court House Booking Project General $ 99,000 TOTAL $ 99,000 TO: 010.271.5271.86 Court House Booking Project General $ 99,000 TOTAL $ 99,000 The State Department of Transportation Public Affairs - Safe Community Program is providing an additional funding of $3,340 to the Hawaii County Police Department's Roadblock Program. The goal of this program is to reduce the number of alcohol related fatalities and injuries, to increase public awareness, and to provide a constant deterrence against impaired driving by conducting impaired driving roadblocks on our highways. The State of Hawaii Department of the Attorney General's Crime Prevention & Justice Assistance Division is providing federal funds from the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program. The funds will be used by the Hawaii Office of the Prosecuting Attorney to implement the Court House Booking Project which will provide post-conviction, same-day penal summons booking at the Hilo and Kona court houses. This project will streamline the post-conviction booking process and will ensure that the information is entered into the statewide offender based tracking program. FC Rept. No. 122 Comm. No. 614 (Bill 173) November 17, 2009 Page -2- Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, and Section 13-13(b), Hawaii County Charter, the Mayor is hereby authorized to apply for, receive and expend the funds for the Court House Booking Project Grant Program. There was no discussion on this measure.
