COUNTY OF HAWAII - STATE OF HAWAII
RESOLUTION NO. 226
RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF HAWAII
TO RELEASE FUNDS FOR THE. WAIAKEA INTERMEDIATE 'SCHOOL, THE
PUNA DISTRICT SCHOOLS, THE KONAWAENA HIGH SCHOOL AND FOR
THE HAWAII COUNTY BUILDING IN THE COUNTY OF HAWAII.
WHEREAS, Section 1-D-7-c of Act 52, Session Laws of
Hawaii 1964, appropriates $250,000 for the construction
of additional classrooms, addition to the cafetorium and a
band building at the Waiakea Intermediate School in the
County of Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, Section 1-D-7-i of Act 52, Session Laws of.
Hawaii 1964, appropriates $200,000 for the Puna District
Schools of Keakealani, Kurti.stown, Mountain View Elementary
and Intermediate, Keaau Elementary and Intermediate, and
Pahoa High and Elementary Schools in the County of Hawaii
' for essential school facilities, including but not limited to,
ed, improvements to existing classrooms buildings, new classrooms,
6? /'e libraries, ground improvements, equipment, band instruments
(3j and appurtenances; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Education, County of Hawaii,
has approved the expenditure of funds pursuant to Section
1-D-7-i, 'Session Laws of Hawaii 1964; and
WHEREAS, Section 1-D-7-j of Act 52, 'Session Laws of
Hawaii 1964, appropriates $225,000 for the completion of the
third- -pha"s6- o€.' Konawaena High School in the County of Hawaii
to include specialty building; and
WHEREAS,,5ection 1-D-7-aa of Act 52, Session Laws of
Hawaii 1964, appropriates $400,000 for the construction of
the Hawaii County Building to include adequate space and
facilities to house the office of the Board of Water Supply
of the County of Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii is anxious to proceed
with the construction, and improvements of existing facilities
enumerated in the foregoing projects in the County of Hawaii.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
in and for the County of Hawaii that the Honorable John A. Burns,
Governor of the State of Hawaii, be and is hereby respectfully
requested to make available to the County of Hawaii the sum
of $250,000 for the Waiakea Intermediate School in the County
of Hawaii, pursuant to the provisions of Section 1-D-7-c,
Act 52, Session Laws of Hawaii 1964; the sum of $200,000 for
the Puna District 'Schools pursuant to the provisions of
Section 1-D-7-i, Act 52, Session Laws of Hawaii 1964; the
sum of $225,000 for the Konawaena High 'School in the County
of Hawaii, pursuant to the provisions of Section 1-D-7-j,
Act 52, Session Laws of Hawaii 1964, and the sum of $400,000 `
for the Hawaii County Building in the County of Hawaii,
pursuant to the provisions of -Section 1-D-7-aa, Act 52,
Session Laws of Hawaii 1964.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk is hereby
instructed to send copies of this resolution to the Honorable
John A. Burns, Governor of the State of Hawaii, the Honorable
Shelley Mark, Director of the Department of Planning and
Economic Development and to the Honorable Andrew F. Ing,
Director of Finance, for their favorable consideration.
