President-Elect
Mike Gleason Dear Chairman and Council Members,
Vice President
Jon Miyata My name is Mike Gleason and I am President Elect for the Hawaii Island
Treasurer Chamber of Commerce and Chairman of the Government Affairs Committee. I
Vaughn Cook am here to testify on their behalf concerning bill 132.
Past President While we agree with Councilman Yagong that transparency is desirable, we
Barbara A. Hastings
Directors oppose his condition that the new owner must explain there future use of the
Howard Ainsley land. The lands available for sale are all agriculturally zoned. The allowable
Kurt Corbin uses are determined by the State Land Use designation and HRS Chapter 205 as
Charles Ensey well as the County Zoning Code. Any changes to the zoning would have to be
Charles Erskine approved by the State Land Use Commission and the County of Hawaii.
Stan Fortuna, Jr.
h Fox-Goldstein While we favor an open auction as Councilman Yagong has proposed verses a
7udtsthwart Hussey sealed bid auction., We question whether an auction would bring in the
Randy Khara maximum revenue verses the more traditional method of selling real estate with
Karina Leasure a Realtor. We support the, sale of the land to balance the budget, but without
Marco Mangelsdorf any conditions of disclosure of the buyer's intended use the current zoning and
Eugene Nishimura land use laws provide appropriate oversight.
