This is a letter of support for Bills 146, 147 and 148: COUNTY s f HANNAH
We are residents of Pi'ihonua, Camp 3, which is just before the two bridges discussed in
the bills which prohibit parking from 6 pm to 6am between the two bridges and reduces
the speed to 15 miles an hour above the 2'd bridge. Over the years we have dealt with
people having parties late in the evenings and continuing into the hours before day break.
These individuals do not are not from the neighborhood, they toss waste, leave
excrement, and blast music so loud our homes vibrate from the sound, drive vehicles
recklessly, and could endanger themselves and our neighborhood.
Examples of unsafe conduct:
• In one instance, we had to call the police because a person had become lost
between the two bridges and we could hear the other people trying to call out and
locate the persons. They had been there hours blasting their music.
• There have been times we can hear car tires "burning rubber" and then racing
down from Camp 4 over the bridges. Fortunately we have not had a vehicle go
off those bridges into the river.
• One time after dusk we heard a blast and later learned that someone had taken a
stolen vehicle and then torched it between the two bridges, making it unsafe for
residents to go pass it until the fire department could extinguish the fire.
This area of Pi'ihonua is beautiful but can be dangerous. Adopting Bills 146, 147 and
148 will help to keep the area clean and safe for others to visit during daylight hours.
It will enable our law enforcement and public works to establish policies and postings
to keep it a beautiful and safe area.
