Subject: Kona meetings
Counsel Members
As a resident of Kona and Kau, I feel it is very important that meetings continue to be held in Kona
equally as with Hilo. There are many important developments in county affairs that directly affect Kona
residents, and we need to have our voices heard, besides the fact that the majority of property tax income
comes from the west side of the island. We are no longer a quaint little fishing village that the Hilo side
doesn't have to pay any attention to.
It sounds like the county pays too much money for the Kona meetings, but we have nothing to compare
to. What do the Hilo meetings cost? And what about the counsel members that live in Kau, Kona, and
North Kohala, they all have to commute to Hilo. If the meetings are too costly, figure a way to cut
costs, but don't get rid of the Kona meetings
