Subject: Resolution 269 Creating a Food Policy Council
Dear Council Members,
We all know that Hawaii Island imports most of its food, that we have the capacity to produce more of our own
food, that there are likely economic and nutritional benefits to growing, distributing, and consuming more local
produce and protein. Other counties around the US who have been successful in building a strong agricultural-
food producing sector of their economies have started with food policy councils such as that being proposed in
Resolution 269. 1 urge you to support this resolution.
