HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 063 Draft 01 1959 COUNTY OF HAWAII - TERRITORY OF HAWAII RESOLUTION NO. 63 WHEREAS, the hopes and aspirations of the people of Hawaii for equal rights and privileges with all other citizens of the United States have been realized by passage of the bill admitting the State of Hawaii into the Union; and WHEREAS, our Delegate to Congress John A. Burns fully cognizant of these hopes and aspirations of the people of Hawaii has unceasingly and devotedly worked for the ultimate passage of the bill admitting the State of Hawaii into the Union; and WHEREAS, it is particularly appropriate that special tribute be paid to Delegate to Congress John A. Burns for his selfless, relentless and masterful efforts in effectuating the attainment of this long-sought goal; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS in and for the County of Hawaii that the citizenry of the State of Hawaii extend individually and collectively their gratitude and appreciation for his endeavors on their behalf to attain for them full and equal rights and privileges with all other citizens of the United States by the granting of statehood to Hawaii; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a certified copy of this resolution be sent forthwith to the Honorable John A.
