HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 2000-032 1998-2000 COUNTY OF HAWA~~ '';STATE OF HAWAII BILL NO. 206 ORDINANCE NO. 00 32 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24, DIVISION 6, SECTION 24-242 OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983, RELATING TO PARKING PERMITS FOR DISABLED PERSONS BY REPEALING THE FEES. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII: SECTION 1. Chapter 24, Division 6, Section 24-242 of the Hawaii County Code, is amended to read as follows: Section 24-242. Office of the mayor to issue placards. (a) The office of the mayor is hereby authorized to issue placards to disabled persons as defined herein after certifying and identifying such persons. (b) The office of the mayor is hereby authorized to implement procedures for such certification and identification of disabled persons within the meaning of this division and is further authorized to implement procedures relating to the application, issuance, renewal, and display of placards. (c) The office of the mayor shall issue removable windshield placards which will remain valid for a period not to exceed four years and "temporary" removable windshield placards which will remain valid for a period not to exceed six months. [(1) The fee for the issuance of renewal for a removable windshield placard will be $10, the fee for a temporary removable windshield placard will be $2.50. (2) A $2.50 fee for replacement placards which are lost, mutilated or stolen may be charged.] (d) In accordance with law and all provisions of this division, only motor vehicles displaying such placards shall be permitted to park in any parking space within County jurisdiction which has been designated for the use of disabled persons. (e) The office of the mayor shall issue placards to any person applying for same who was duly authorized to possess and use a special parking permit for disabled persons in the County of Hawaii as of December 31, 1984. SECTION 2. Material to be repealed is bracketed. In printing this ordinance, the brackets and bracketed material, need not be included. SECTION 3. In the event that any portion of this ordinance is declared invalid, such invalidity, shall not affect the other parts of this ordinance. SECTION 4. Third ordinance shall take effect upon its adoption.
