COUNTY OF HAWAII - TERRITORY OF HAWAII
RESOLUTION NO. 104
WHEREAS, the United States Air Force is-proposing to
eliminate airplane traffic in the South Kona and Kau districts;
and
WHEREAS, the Air Force proposal "will effectively block
the exchange af.'air traffic between the feast and west side of
Hawaii (Island) via the South Cape area".and will be "continuous";
and
WHEREAS, such restriction will work a hardship on the
District-of Kau which uses airplanes for crop dusting; and
WHEREAS, such restriction will work a hardship on the
District of Kona byzblocking commercial and cargo planes from
flying the southern route,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BYTE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
in and for the County of Hawaii that we hereby protest to the
Fedexal.Aviation Agency the proposed restriction, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we.~request the Federal
Aviation Agency, if it does'grant such a restriction, that
a
it also make provision for crop dusting and necessary scheduled
cargo and commercial flights in the restricted area.
BE IT FURTHER.,.RESOLVED that the County Clerk be, and he
is hereby instructed and directed to forward copies of this
resolution to the Federal Aviation Agency, the Honolulu
Regional Airspace Subcommittee, the Department of Defense,
and the Governor of Hawaii, the Honorable William Quinn.
