RESOLUTION NO. 105
WHEREAS, the United States Navy is proposing to
install an aerial gunnery range in the South Point area;
and
WHEREAS, an aerial gunnery range would increase the
air traffic of military bombing planes in the area; and
WHEREAS, people live in the Districts of Kau and
South Kona only 10 to 15 miles from the range; and
WHEREAS, such planes'would constitute a nuisance
and a real danger to the people of Kau and South Kona,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF
SUPERVISORS in and for the County of Hawaii that we go
on record as opposing the installation of such aerial
gunnery range in the South Point area, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED thay we petition the Department
of Defense not to allow such a range to be established.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk be,a.nd
he is hereby instructed and directed to send copies of
this resolution to the Honorable Neil H. McElroy, Secretary
of Defense, and to the Honorable William F. Quinn, Governor
of Hawaii.
