WHEREAS, the office of the County Clerk in and for the County of
Hawaii has become vacant as a result of the untimely death of'the
Honorable Edwin M. Desha on August 26, 1959; and
\\1flEREAS, Mrs. Hargaret M. Kaaua, the 1st Deputy Clerk, has served
faithfully in the office of the County Clerk, having been employed as
clerk of the said office in November 1929 and having been appointed to
the position of 1st Deputy Clerk in September 1933; and
'~REAS, under the capable direction of the late Honorable
Alfred H. Kumalae and the late Honorable Edwin M. Desha, Mrs. lvIargaret M.
Kaaua has become familiar with the duties and responsibilities of the
office of County Clerk; and
WHEREAS, }frs. Hargaret M. Kaaua is eminently qualified by experience,
training, educati'on and character to serve the unexpired term of the late
Honorable Edwin H. Desha;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, in and
for the County of Hawaii that, Mrs. Nargaret M. Kaaua, be and she is
hereby appointed to the office of County Clerk, in and for the County
of Hawaii, to serve for and during the remainder of the unexpired term
of the late HONORABLE EDWIN M. DESHA, effective ~s of September 1, 1959.
