COUNTY OF HAWAII - STATE OF N-AWAII
RE SOLUT ION NO.
WHEREAS, for a period of over 50 years the residents
and homesteaders at Kurtistown, District of Puna, County and
State of Hawaii, have tried to struggle along without an
adequate water supply; and
WHEREAS, the agricultural and residential potentialities
of the Kurtistown area can only be utilized to the fullest
extent only where water is made available; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Water Supply of the County of
Hawaii is now prepared to advertise for bids for the
construction and development of the Kurtistown water system,
provided moneys in the sum of'$63,000.00 as contemplated
by Act 150 of the S.L.H. 1957, can be made available for the
project; and
WHEREAS, there is now the sum of $102,344.92, which
lapsed under Act 295, in the State Treasury available which
may be allocated to any project the Governor of the State of
Hawaii may deem necessary and advisable,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
of the County of Hawaii, that the Honorable William F. Quinn,
Governor of the State of Hawaii, be and he is hereby respectfully
requested to exercise the good powers of his office to make
$65,000.00 of the sum aforesaid available to the Board of Water
.Supply of the County of Hawaii for the construction and
development of the Kurtistown water system.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of
Itawaii be and is directed to send certified copies of this
resolution to the Honorable William F. Quinn, Governor of
the State of Hawaii, Honorable Stanley Hara, Finance Chairman,

First Representative District, William H. Chun, Manager
Engineer, County of Hawaii and to Yukio Koshi, Representative
of the Kurtistown Homesteaders.
