RESOLUTION N0. )A 3
WHEREAS, there now exists a vacancy in the office
of Chairman and Executive Officer of the County of Hawaii
by reason of the resignation of the Honorable James Kealoha;
and
WHEREAS, there will also exist a vacancy in the office
of Supervisor of the County of Hawaii from the First
Senatorial District upon elevation of a member of this
Board of Supervisors to the office of Chairman and Executive
Officer of the County of Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, there further now exists a vacancy in the
office of County Clerk of the County of Hawaii by reason
of the untimely death of the Honorable Edwin M. Desha;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF
SUPERVISORS of the County of Hawaii that the Honorable
Thomas K. Cook, member_ of this Bogard of Supervisors from
the First Senatorial District (East Hawaii) be and he is
hereby appointed Chairman and Executive Officer of the
County of Hawaii for and until his term of office expires
by operation of law.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the vacancy in the
Board of Supervisors created by the elevation of the
Honorable Thomas K. Cook to the Office of Chairman and
Executive Officer of the County of Hawaii be filled by
Elias P. Yadao, and the said Elias P. Yadao upon the
elevation of the said Thomas K. Cook as aforesaid be
and he is hereby appointed to serve as a member of this
Board of Supervisors from the First Senatorial District
G _3 (East Hawaii) for avid until his term of office expires by

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Honorable Margaret
M. Kaaua, First Deputy County Clerk of the County of Hawaii,
be and she is hereby appointed to the office of County
Clerk of the County of Hawaii for and until her term
of office expires by operation of law.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Deputy County Clerk
be directed to forward a copy each of this resolution to
the Honorable Thomas K. Cook, Honorable Elias P. Yadao,
Honorable Margaret M. Kaaua.
