COUNTY OF HAWAII - TERRITORY OF HAWAII
'RESOLUTION NO.
WHEREAS, the Presi.dent'and the Congress of the United
States of America,— speaking with the voice of democracy
and manifesting the desires of its citizenry, have honored
the basic aspirations of Alaska's people for a place in
the sun by granting to Alaska the treasured status of a
sister State; and
WHEREAS,-the people of the County and Territory of
Hawaii, intensely loyal to the government of the United
States of America and deeply devoted to the ideals and
principles''that have made ours a great and generous
nation, have demonstrated their ability and capacity
to assume and meet the obligations and demands of
statehood; and
WHEREAS, the people of the County and Territory of
Hawaii have long yearned and pleaded for the opportunity
of becoming completely one with the rest of the people
of the United States of America,
NOW9 THEREFORE, BE T RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF
SUPERVISORS in and for the County and Territory'of Hawaii,
in'behalf of its citizenry, that the President of the United
States of America and the Congress of the United States of
America be'and they are hereby respectfully requested to
exercise the good powers of their offices to extend to the
people of the Territory of Hawaii the honor and the treasured
privilege reserved for those who are already part of the family
of States making up the United States of America, and to
bestow upon the people of'the Territory of Hawaii the
blessings of statehood heretofore beyond their reach.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that duly certified copies

Honorable Richard M. Nixon, Vice-President of the United
States and President Of-the United States Senate; to

Chairman of the Committee on Interior and Insular Affairs-
of the United States Senate;.to the Honorable Clair Engle,
Chairman of the Committee on Interior and Insular Affairs
of the United States House of Representatives; to the
Honorable John'A. Burns, Delegate to Congress from Hawaii;
to the Honorable Frederick A. Seaton,'Secretary of the
Interior; _to the Honorable William F..Quinn, Governor of
the Territory of Hawaii.
