WHEREAS, YASUKI ARAKAKI, by the timely, diligent and continuous
application of artificial respiration, saved the life of Sandra Lee
Alonzo after'she was rescued from Mauna Kea Pond in Kapoho, Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, YASUKI ARAKAKI has been awarded the National Safety
Council's President's Medal for his outstanding feat; and
WHEREAS, it is believed that the President's Medal has been
awarded for the first time to any resident of the Big Island.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors
in and for the County of Hawaii that YASUKI ARAKAKI be and is hereby
congratulated for his outstanding feat and signal honor bestowed upon
him by the National Safety Council.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be sent to
Mr. Yasuki Arakaki,
