COUNTY OF HAWAII - TERRITORY/ OF HAWAII
RESOLUTION NO.
WHEREAS, the U. S.I National Park Service has designated the Honaunau
Park area as a national monument; and
WHEREAS, the development of the Honaunau Park area is in the best
interest of the people of the Territory because it will restore and
preserve an important aspect of our cultural heritage as well as
stimulating tourist activity; and
WHEREAS, the Territorial Planning Office has set aside Ten Thousand
Dollars ($10,000000) for use by the Land Commissioner to facilitate the
acquisition of the necessary land to turn over to the U. S. Park
Service.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors in and
for the County of Hawaii that the Honorable Frank W. Hustace, Jr.,
Commissioner of Public Lands, be and is hereby requested to expedite
the acquisition of land necessary for the establishment of the Honaunau
National Monument; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy each of this resolution be sent
to the Honorable Governor William F. Quinn, the Territorial Planning
Director, Mr. Frank Lombardi, and to the Honorable Frank W. Hustace, Jr.,
Commissioner of Public Lands.
