Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 3, reports as follows:
Bill No. 3, transmitted by Finance Director Harry Takahashi, via Communication No. 6, dated November
23, 1998, amends Ordinance No. 98-50, as amended, the Capital Budget ending
June 3Q 1998, by adding the following project:
PUBLIC WORKS
Saddle Road Climbing Lane (110-399-5393.33-115) $3,300,000
Funds for these appropriations shall be provided from:
General Obligations Bonds, Capital Projects Fund, Fund Balance and/or other Sources $3,300,000
This project is for the planning, designing and constructing of 3 miles of a new climbing lane between
MP 24 and MP 28 to allow vehicles to safely pass slow moving vehicles without entering the oncoming
traffic lane.
Members of Your Committee expressed concerns in regard to public safety, viable federal funding, and
any impact this measure would have in relation to the proposed Puainako Street Extension. Some
members felt more information was necessary prior to approving said measure.
A motion to approve Bill No. 3 failed as indicated by the votes below.
Your Committee on Finance is not in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 3 and recommends it
be filed.
