Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 11-98, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 11-98, transmitted by Fire Chief Nelson M. Tsuji, via Communication No. 30,
dated December 8, 1998, authorizes the acceptance of a donation from the North Kohala Coast
Volunteer Fire Company.
The North Kohala Coast Volunteer Fire Company has graciously donated a 1983 Seagrave
Pumper to the Hawaii County Fire Department to provide fire protection for persons and
property located in the North and South Kohala districts. The value of this donation is $90,000.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the council, on behalf of the
county, may accept gifts of donations of personal property.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 11-98
and recommends its adoption. Your Committee also recommends that a letter of appreciation be
sent to Mr. Ralph Saito, Volunteer Fire Chief, P.O. Box 44538, Kamuela, Hawaii 96743.
