Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 13-98, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 13-98, transmitted by Finance Director Harry Takahashi, via Communication
No. 53, dated December 18, 1998, authorizes the Mayor to enter into multi-year agreements for
various telephone services.
The present competitive rates among long distance and pay telephone providers in Hawaii aze
providing the County with an opportunity to reduce its telephone costs. Therefore, the
administration is presently soliciting rate proposals for services to include interisland (intralata)
long distance rates, U.S. mainland (interlata) and foreign long distance rates, cellulaz phone
proposals, and pay telephones.
Section 10-11, Hawaii County Charter, requires that any contract, lease, or other obligation
requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal yeaz or more than one fiscal
yeaz be approved by resolution.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 13-98
and recommends its adoption.
