Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 67, reports as follows:
Communication No. 67, transmitted by Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro, dated December 22, 1998,
nominates the following individual to the 1999 Hawaii County Charter Commission.
Susan S. Irvine of Hilo is a 26-year resident of Hawaii and is the Office of Manager of Robert D.
Irvine, MD, Inc. Of no political party affiliation, Ms. Irvine is a member of numerous
community organizations.
Pursuant to Article XV, Section 15-3, Hawaii County Charter, the mayor with the confirmation
of the council, shall appoint a charter commission composed of eleven members to study and
review the operation of the government of the county under this charter. Commission members,
no more than a majority of whom shall belong to the same political party, shall be representative
of the various geographical areas of Puna, Ka'u, Kona, Kohala, Hamakua, and Hilo.
Your Committee on Finance recommends confirmation of the appointment of Susan Irvine to the
1999 Hawaii County Charter Commission.
