COUNTY OF HAWAII - TERRITORY OF HAWAII
RESOLUTION NO.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS in and
for the County of Hawaii,` Territory: of Hawaii, that a
Board of Trustees consisting of seven (7) members be
and is hereby created for each of the County hospitals
in the County of Hawaii, with the exception of the
Puumaile and Hilo Memorial Hospital; that with the
approval of the Board of Supervisors the members of
l~ each Board of Trustees shall be appointed by the
Chairman and Executive Officer of'the Board of
1 Supervisors who shall likewise designate the chairman
of each Board of Trustees; that the members of the Board
of.Trustees of the Kohala Hospital shall be qualified
citizens and residents of the District of North Kohala
and/or South Kohala; that the members of the Board of
Trustees of the Kona Hospital shall be qualified citizens
and residents-of the District of North Kona and/or
South Kona; that the majority of the members of the Board
of Trustees of the Honokaa Hospital shall be qualified
citizens and residents of the District of Hamakua;
that each member shall serve without compensation;
that on and after January 2, 1957, three (3).members
shall be appointed fox terms ending at noon on January
2, 1958, and four (4) members shall be appointed for
terms ending at noon on January 2, 1959; and thereafter,
following said initial appointments, all appointments
shall be for two (2) years from the date of expiration
of the term for which the predecessors were appointed
and until their successors are appointed and qualified;
and any vacancy shall be filled by appointment for the
remainder of the unexpired term.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Boards of Trustees
shall manage, supervise and regulate the business
affairs of the County hospitals and shall enforce the
rules, regulations, orders and directives as may from
time to time be prescribed and adopted by the Board of
Supervisors of the County of Hawaii.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Boards of Trustees
shall establish uniform rates in al l County hospitals
under their jurisdiction.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Resolution Nos. 111 of
1931, 524 of 1939, 822 of 1950, and 380 of 1956 are
hereby revoked and rescinded.
